Birth Class
Birth in NYC Is Different. You Deserve to Understand How It Really Works.
Real, experience-based birth education for families planning hospital births in New York City. Learn how labor unfolds, understand your options, make informed decisions, and feel truly supported every step of the way.
The Class NYC Parents Wish They'd Taken Before Giving Birth
After more than 20 years supporting families in hospitals across all five boroughs, one thing is clear: the families who feel most confident aren't the ones who know the most. They're the ones who understand how birth actually unfolds in the hospital environment.
That's what we teach.
This 4-hour childbirth class is for expectant parents who want clear, honest, supportive birth education, without fear-based messaging or information overload. Because let's be real... who has time for weekly classes?
Every class is tailored to your hospital, your provider, and most importantly, you.
What You'll Learn
We won't tell you how to give birth. We'll teach you how birth works, so you can recognize what's normal, understand your options, communicate with your care team, and make decisions that feel right for your family.
The Stages of Labor, Step by Step
We'll walk through labor from the first contractions to the first hours with your baby, so nothing catches you off guard:
• Early labor: What those first contractions feel like, how to rest and stay comfortable at home, and how to tell real labor from practice runs
• When to head to the hospital: How to time contractions, when to call your provider, and what to expect in triage (plus a little NYC reality: traffic, timing, and getting there calmly)
• Active labor: How labor intensifies, what your nurses and provider are checking, and how movement and support help you keep going
• Transition: The toughest and shortest stretch, why it feels the way it does, and how partners can help most in that moment
• Pushing and birth: Positions, what's happening in your body, and how you and your team work together
• After birth: Delivering the placenta, skin-to-skin, the golden hour, and what recovery looks like in the first hours
Comfort and Coping That Feel Like You
You'll learn practical ways to work with your body using movement, positioning, touch, and comfort techniques that feel natural to you, not scripted breathing or yoga routines. We'll help you find the strengths and coping skills you already have and show you how to use them in labor.
Navigating the Hospital With Confidence
You'll learn how to create a meaningful birth plan, understand common hospital interventions and why they're recommended, and know what your nurses, OB, or midwife are watching for throughout labor, so you feel informed every step of the way.
Blending evidence-based education with real hands-on experience in NYC hospitals, you'll leave feeling prepared, informed, and excited for birth, not overwhelmed.
