About
Meet Kerri Evers
Kerri grew up in the heart of a true village here in Brooklyn — one of seven siblings and a daughter to every mother in the neighborhood. From a young age she learned how to love and honor relationships outside of “family.” That experience shaped the way she sees birth and community, and she has carried the belief that it truly does “take a village” deep in her heart.
She is a sister, doula, mother, teacher, and friend.
For more than two decades, Kerri has supported hundreds of families giving birth throughout New York City. Her work has brought her into delivery rooms across the city, where she has worked closely alongside OB-GYNs, midwives, and nurses inside the hospital setting creating a collaborative environment that helps families feel supported by everyone in the room. Through this experience she has developed a deep understanding of how hospital birth works — and how to help families move through it feeling informed, confident, and supported.
Kerri also helped develop and launch one of the first hospital-based doula programs of its kind in New York City, helping integrate doulas into the clinical birth team in a way that strengthened communication and support for families. Her work within the program has helped shape how doulas and hospital staff collaborate, creating a model that honors both medical care and continuous labor support.
Kerri’s ability to connect with people during pregnancy and birth is what families often remember most. Her calm, nurturing, and intuitive presence helps parents trust their bodies and feel supported during one of the most important experiences of their lives.
Her understanding of labor comes from years of attending births, her own birth experiences, and the wisdom passed down from the women before her.
She is also the founder of The Brooklyn Birth Shop, a space created for education, support, and community where families can prepare for birth and early parenthood together.
Kerri continues to build spaces where families feel welcomed, supported, and confident as they enter parenthood — always guided by the same values she grew up with here in Brooklyn: love, trust, and that little bit of courage.
